Hope Amidst the Silence

Sexual abuse refers to any activity of a sexual nature imposed upon someone without their consent or understanding. It occurs in homes and on streets. It is committed by those unknown and known to the victim.  It has and continues to be used as a weapon of war. It is committed against women, men and children. It is an act which invades not only the body, but the very 'self' of a person and can have devastating consequences.

Sexual abuse is surrounded by silence or myth, more generally by both in some measure.  This silence is found within the Christian community. This site is the beginning of an attempt to remedy this. CASA not only intends to provide Christian help for victims of sexual abuse but to clarify and promote a biblical perspective on the issue of sexual abuse.

This site is for all adults who have experienced sexual abuse: male and female victims of sexual assault and rape, adult victims of childhood sexual abuse, Christian and non-Christian victims.

On this website you will find information, testimony and support resources. For the Christian, I hope you find it a place of encouragement. For the non-believer I hope it provides a means whereby you will come to know the  peace, hope and healing that is to be found in Jesus Christ.

For Church Leaders

Sections are being developed on this website to draw together resources that churches might find useful. These will include reviews of books already written, from a Christian perspective, on sexual abuse. Various links and downloadable leaflets/posters will also be made available. Please visit the site regularly as the resources are being gradually developed. See Church Resources

About the Founder of CASA

My name is Julie. I am a lecturer and a single parent to a teenage girl. I have been a christian for just over six years and am a member of a Baptist church in the east of England. My own personal experience of abuse and my own conversion to Christianity can be found here:  Responding to Christ: A personal account of rape and conversion  I am no expert and simply seek to provide some support to others. This I do in the name of Jesus Christ. Please visit the site regularly as resources are being constantly developed.

The site is UK based but I am keen to develop reciprocal links with Christian based support organisations throughout the world. Please visit the Contact page if you are a webmaster interested in this.
